Room Reserve - Reservation Limits
Room Reserve Reservation Limits
Reservation requests can be limited to restrict the number of requests a patron can make. This setting is set at the branch level, but the system does cross check across branches. Two reservations at Branch A count against the total for Branch B.
The rules are entered as "# Reservation(s) within # Days".
Limits set the same for all rooms
If the rule is defined as "1 Reservation(s) within 5 Days" then the following will be true when a patron makes a request.
- A patron already has a reservation request (for any room in this branch pending, pay pending or accepted, but not canceled) on the 8th of the month.
- If they make a reservation for the 2nd --> They are allowed
- If they make a reservation for the 3rd --> They are restricted
- If they make a reservation for the 4th --> They are restricted
- If they make a reservation for the 6th --> They are restricted
- If they make a reservation for the 10th --> They are restricted
- If they make a reservation for the 12th --> They are restricted
- If they make a reservation for the 13th --> They are restricted
- If they make a reservation for the 14th --> They are allowed
Limits set different on each room
Since this setting is configured for each room, there can be different limits based on the room that is being requested. The limit checking is done using the rules for the room being requested, but it checks against all rooms in a single branch. If the rule is defined as "1 Reservation(s) within 5 Days" for all rooms but the 'auditorium' has a different rule of "1 Reservation(s) within 60 Days" then the following will be true when a patron makes a request.
- A patron already has a reservation request (for any room in this branch pending, pay pending or accepted, but not canceled) on the 8th of the month.
- If they make a reservation for a standard room on the 2nd --> They are allowed
- If they make a reservation for a standard room on the 3rd --> They are restricted
- If they make a reservation for a standard room on the 13th --> They are restricted
- If they make a reservation for a standard room on the 14th --> They are allowed
- If they make a reservation for the 'auditorium' on the 14th --> They are restricted
- If they make a reservation for the 'auditorium' on the 30th --> They are restricted
- If they make a reservation for the 'auditorium' 6 weeks away --> They are restricted
- If they make a reservation for the 'auditorium' 9 weeks away --> They are allowed
Recurring Requests
Recurring requests are checked differently. A recurring request is considered one request on many days for the limit check. So the limits will not be imposed on the recurring request dates among themselves. Each day in the recurring request will be checked on other requests using the room's limits. If the rule is defined as "1 Reservation(s) within 5 Days" then the following will be true when a patron makes a request.
- A patron already has a reservation request (for any room in this branch pending, pay pending or accepted, but not canceled) on the 8th of the month.
- If they make a recurring reservation for 3 consecutive days starting on the 1st --> They are restricted (the 3rd is within 5 days of the 8th)
- If they make a recurring reservation for 3 consecutive days starting on the 13th --> They are restricted (the 13th is within 5 days of the 8th)
- If they make a recurring reservation for 3 consecutive days starting on the 14th --> They are allowed
